Oh my god, i thought i was the only one who'd gone to a Dead show in utero. (Okay, i never thought i was the only one, but you know what i mean--mine was when my mom was seven months pregnant with me, and she said i kicked my way through Rhythm Devils without stopping once.)

Grateful Dead fans from (before) birth: WE ARE LEGION. Not gonna lie, it breaks my heart a little that that was the only time I ever "saw" Jerry himself; I was too young to go before he died D:

ALSO I THINK THAT IT IS LESS THAT I HAVE STELLAR TASTE AND MORE THAT I LIKE EVERYTHING. Seriously, people ride in my car and the music goes from Gaga to Fleetwood Mac to Josh Ritter to Ani to ACDC to the Dead, and they're like...what...just happened here...

Aww bb. I made it to a few shows before Jerry died, but the year i was deemed old enough to go to both shows, they had the 'riots' at Deer Creek and cancelled their second night. And then Jerry died just a couple months later. The worst part is, there was no parking lot marketplace after the show, so i never got a t shirt that year.

(True story: My best friend and i were at a Rusted Root show the January after Jerry died, and the people in front of us passed a joint between my best friend and i to the people behind us without offering it to us to share. He and i looked at each other and were just utterly heartbroken, coz that's the moment that it really sunk in that Jerry was gone.)

WAIT, YOU TOO? That pretty much describes what my music player did on my erranding just now...

True story: I first heard I and Love and You on the radio and I actually ended up stopping what I was doing to listen becuase it was just SO GREAT.

...and I STILL don't have the studio version (tho I do have a live version now).

It is so totally the unexpected breaks in phrase length that gets me in this song. You think you know how it's going to go and then BAM. The shape this song's in isn't quite what you'd expect, just like RL.

I CAN'T HELP BUT BLATHER WITH HEARTEYES ABOUT MUSIC. I DON'T KNOW ANY OTHER WAY.
