The snow that had been forecast for the weekend with lots of Dire Foreboding didn't really get started until Sunday, about the time it had originally been scheduled to finish; even at that it didn't start sticking until very nearly the end of the day; and over the night it didn't accumulate more than 3 or 4 inches. But did you know that the set designs for that Lord of Light film were done by Jack Kirby? Or that there were plans to turn those sets into a theme park after filming?

Not having seen Argo--or indeed any of the nominees except for Moonrise Kingdom--I'm well-qualified to opine. I think Argo won because movie industry workers love love LOVE "backstage" movies, especially ones where the Industry is made to look heroic.

Jack Kirby I had heard about; the theme park was news to me. Seems a bit optimistic, to count the theme park before the chicken is even filmed. (Were there going to be white tigers?)
