Midweek update

Went out for a constitutional yesterday, for the first time in...I don't know how long. Days and days and days certainly, maybe even weeks. But it wasn't actually snowing, for a change, and most of the sidewalks around have been plowed (or shoveled, or blown) - although I still don't trust Main Street. John of Ileway, first baron of Carolingia (chronologically). No, you wouldn't have met him, way before your time - effectively left in 1975 1974, only spotted once or twice since then.

the only difference is that our lapels were one smooth line, without the little nick (I assume there's a technical term for that in tailoring)

I believe it's called a "gore". Yes, this is different from the usual meaning of "gore" in dressmaking. And no, I don't know why I knew that %^).

There's something about hard and fast term limits that seems inherently un-Carolingian to me.

I did drop the idea of term limits for officers at Council, something I've been mulling over for a while, but those are more reality/sanity check term limits than out-on-your-bum term limits. My vision is that every say, two years (less? more?), officers should take a pause to say "Do I really still want this office or has inertia just taken over?", while people who might be interested in the office if it weren't already filled have a recrimination-free avenue and occasion to publicly say "If this person were to step down, I would toss my hat in ( ... )

That's right, even more true of Bridge than of Carolingia. I have to remember to stop thinking of them as such a junior barony :-)

One might also count the "Mystery First Baroness", if one were being completist. Though given that her 'administration' lasted for a few hours, that might be pushing it :-)

In this context, I would definitely say that was pushing it: I'm not talking completist, I'm talking pragmatic. But at other times, in other contexts, let's not forget this gentle any more than she already has been forgotten.
