Book #32 -- Catherine Gilbert Murdock, Princess Ben, 344 pages.
Princes Ben (Benevolence), is a busy girl. In the course of one superbly-crafted novel, she manages to be Cinderella *and* Prince(ss) Charming, as well as Sleeping Beauty *and* the (not really evil just misunderstood) Fairy. Oh, and the witch who gives Jack the magic beans.
Ben is the daughter of Prince Walter, brother to King Ferdinand of the small kingdom of Montagne. But when her parents and uncle are mysteriously killed, she suddenly finds herself the direct heir to the throne, under the care of her uncle's harsh wife as Queen Reagent. And that's just the beginning of her problems.
It was a brilliant book. I ended up reading the final 3/4 all in one sitting . . . I couldn't put it down. Definitely recommended.
