Professional Literature

I've come to the conclusion that there is just plain too much of it. Due to my memberships in professional associations, I get subscriptions to five journals. One is general, three are specific to academic libraries, and one is specific to Louisiana libraries. Three come monthly, the other two quarterly ( Read more... )

It has been years since I even tried to do much more than look through the Contents and perhaps two or three abstracts in the professional journals I get at work. I read only dozen or so articles in the year from the journals; the conference proceedings I seem to read more thoroughly.

I have minor OCD. It drives me nuts to put something in the "read" pile without having at least skimmed through every article within. I need to try to get beyond that . .

I know. I'm also subscribed to more professional library blogs than I could ever read in a lifetime. It's just information overload. It bugs me because I can't stand missing something, but there's no way I could read even half of what I'm interested in.
