Well, the cats found Hamlet for me again last night. Unfortunately I was not quite quick enough getting him away from them. He's still alive, and actually acting pretty perky, but he's got a series of shallow puncture marks (I think from being carried in Robin's mouth) and decent-sized (although not deep) gash on one side

Did you feed him? In case it happens again so he'll have a week...

Yup, that was the first thing I did after treating his wound. I've got the lid taped down now. It will require more effort - taping and untaping every time I want to open the tank - but hopefully it will keep him from getting loose again. Assuming he heals, of course :-(

Aw, sweetie, I'm sorry you've had so much trouble with the snakelets and the kitties. It's hard to see your pets get hurt.

Thanks. I've got hopes for him. The fact that he ate fine and is feeling well enough to climb to his favoured perch on the little tree thingy in his tank is a good sign. I think he'll be fine if it just doesn't get infected. Unfortunately everything I've read says reptiles are particularly susceptible to infection. All I can do now is keep his tank clean, and put the antibiotic stuff on it. And hope.

I think you should get your snake to an exotic pet vet jsut to make sure he'll be fine.

I'll see what I can do -- there's only one in town and they're not open on weekends.
