Benedick (the charcoal baby snake) has died :-( He would not eat, and I think he had mites. Luckily he was still within warranty so shadesong and I went to the pet store and got him exchanged for another one. This one is a classic corn morph (like this) and I was assured that he had been treated with mite preventative and had eaten several meals already ( Read more... )

So I'm cooking dinner and I notice that Robin is staring intently at the corner of one of the bookcases. Ah ha! I think. Cat knows something I don't. Well, the cats found Hamlet for me again last night. Unfortunately I was not quite quick enough getting him away from them. He's still alive, and actually acting pretty perky, but he's got a series of shallow puncture marks (I think from being carried in Robin's mouth) and decent-sized (although not deep) gash on one side ( Read more... )

Hamlet got out again last night. This time I have no idea how he did it. When I checked this morning, the lid was properly latched and the lamp was in the same place. I'm getting ready to go to bed when I hear the cats making noise out in the living room. I go out to check, just in case, not really expecting it to be anything. Ok, now I'm really upset. Apparently I was upset enough about Horatio that I didn't latch the tank properly. Because this morning, the tank was empty. Hamlet just got fed yesterday, so he's good for a week food-wise. That is if the cats don't get him first. I've looked everywhere I can think, but he's a little guy, he could fit anywhere. Horatio died today. I don't know exactly what was wrong with him. He regurgitated his last meal on Tuesday, and I've been trying to get him to eat since then.
