So I did in fact tear a tendon in my knee. It's apparently a minor tear, so I've got a soft brace I'm supposed to wear for a week. It actually does help -- makes the knee feel a little more stable. And pretty much makes it impossible for me to twist it.
Of course my sciatica is acting up as well. I feel like such a gimp.

Take good care of it; you might consider looking into some ankle weights at Wal Mart and do leg extensions to build up your quads. That was the main exercise they had me do in rehab with my knee when it hyperextended. Careful in the shower.
But no exercise for now, rest it. I'm not surprised your back hurts, since you're probably favoring your knee and off balance.
