Chi McBride is just so perfect as Emerson. He adds the right amount of tartness to the show, and really balances it.

Life was the big surprise of the season for me. I had very little expectations, and I've ended up really liking it. I do think the cases of the week tend to be pat and not that interesting, but the overall mystery of who set him up works better and is unfolding with nice complexity and growing tension. And I really love the leads. Plus, as quirky detectives go, I appreciate the relative subtlety and realism of this versus something like monk or psych that's playing things so broadly. (I mean I like psych for the fun silliness that it is, but I like the more true emotional range of Life too.)

It still weirds me out to see Calamity Jane in makeup with blonde hair! I will get used to it eventually.

I am all about Pushing Daisies this season. It grabbed me immediately and I look forward to it so much each week. I didn't expect to like it quite this much, and Emerson is a huge part of that.

Don't forget the always underrated and overlooked character actor Jim Dale as the Pushing Daisies narrator.

I realized that, the moment I uploaded this icon, given my proven track record with fangirling shows and their subsequent immediate cancellation, that I had probably given 'Pushing Daisies' the kiss of death...*sigh*....
