Speculation for 2x04 - a different perspective

Sep 24, 2009 12:43

By now many of you will have seen the synopsis for episode 2x04 (I've pasted it under the cut for those who haven't).

Just wondering if anyone else has the same prescription slash goggles I do, because my mind is on overdrive. la_esmeralda_ agrees that some serious speculation is in order.

JUST BEFORE YOU DECIDE HENWHATSHISFACE INTERRUPTS FOREST SEXYTIEM, I'd like to point out Gwen was snapped wearing the dress in Camelot. So. Morgana dresses Gwen up in her stuff. Because she's kinky like that. And sends Gwen out riding. Because it's a dare, or they're coming out to the world, or something.

But YES. Clearly the savage is going to be like, "RA, I HAVE MORGANA. UTHER, UR MONEY PLS." But Morgana would be safe anyway, right? Cus she's at home? So why would Gwen even need to maintain the pretence ( ... )

Oooh, here I was looking for a more complicated explanation, but really, it's as simple as MORGANA LIKES SEEIN' GWEN SWAN ABOUT IN HER CLOTHES. It's a dreadful turn-on. *nod*

But yeah, once Gwen's kidnapped and Morgana's safe, she no longer needs to maintain the pretence, but she's still kidnapped, and maybe Hensisface assumes Gwen is lying? Because he can't do a google image search for "the lady Morgana", and the communication channels are probs pretty slow. Or maybe Gwen kind of HAS to maintain the pretence lest he say "well, shit" and just kill her immediately. XP

AHHH THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. Episode 4 of any given season is obviously THE ONE WHERE THE SLASH SUBTEXT IS RIDIC.

Don't let me down, writers!

See, you'd think it's about the deep love, but really this entire mess is because the girls enjoy too active a love life. Try explaining that to Uther.

And jeez, you'd think Old Henface would do his research before embarking on kidnap plans. Most Incompetent Villain yet? Aren't there even any medieval gossip rags he can flick through down the local inn for a reference?

YES FOR EP4 PARALLELS. *loves you*

Seriously, all he had to do was pop down to the House of the Rising Sun brothel pub and ask around. They know shit there. They knew Arthur keeps his key on his third belt loop and stows it away in a drawer at night whilst shirtless and washed in moonlight.

I can't imagine anything holding Morgana back from going to save Gwen. Nothing short of locking her in the dungeons again, at least. Is there anything explicitly saying Morgana doesn't come along? She invited herself along to fight the Afanc pretty easily, I don't see why she can't go on this little adventure.

I don't know if this is the same episode where she's fighting with a sword, mainly because Gwen is seen in the same scene wearing something completely different than the purple dress. Unless Morgana brought a change of clothes with her, which actually sounds really practical and cute. Maybe that is what happened!

There's nothing that says she doesn't come along! I'm actually hoping she does show up, because that would be awesome, and what I hope for most is for Gwen, or Gwen and Morgana, to be the ones to actually do the saving while the men pout over who got there first. XP

*bounces around* I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

I do hope there is no Plot Contrivance to hold Morgana back to put the focus on Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot.

Not that I have anything against Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot. I just want Morgana to be there too. Possibly laughing at the boys.

YOU ARE NOT DELUSIONAL.

I LOVE this theory. I just had time to post the synopsis and run to a lecture - not read subtext into it! But it does make a lot of sense. If there is not at least ONE scene of Morgana angsting about Gwen sacrificing herself for her I AM GOING TO WRITE ONE. (And then all the hot sex they have after she gets back). ^_^

BWEEEE I AM SANE. It's good to have verification every now and again. *g*

I have now done so much reading between the lines about this one little press blurb that I may find myself sadfacing if things go very much differently, BUT THEN I WILL GET OVER IT AND WRITE COMFORT PORN.

HOMG. I SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR NEWSLETTER. And we will write this version of the episode ourselves either way.

But GWEN AND MORGANA LOVE EACH SO MUCH OMG, and I highly doubt canon's going to shelve that any time soon. :D

I like your take on this.

I'm thinking either the mix-up is totally innocent--Hengist et al grab the first girl they can find, thinking it's Morgana--or Gwen has actually colluded with Merlin to dress as Morgana in order to protect her lady-love. I think I like that second option better.

Maybe there are political reasons why Morgana has to be kept safe or out of the picture? Or follow-up from Morgana realizing that she's magic in episode 3?
