Notes from the conference

I just spent three days at a conference in Phoenix at enormous expense and I really want to take something away from this.  I usually lock my learning in via blogging.  I don't have time to do a proper write-up all at once, though, so I'm going to just start and maybe add more to it ( Read more... )

Ok, great... now I have the little "By Mennen!" micro-jingle... as an earworm.

On conferences - in general, I've found professional conferences are a mix of speakers who speak occasionally and have a lot to offer, and speakers who speak frequently and have little to offer, other than padding their own resumes.

Imagine the swirling star sound at the end of old Hanna-Barbera cartoons. It's unearwormable.

Young motherhood has taught me never to be parted from a carryon that has multiple changes of clothing for all of us, plus diapers, plus snacks enough for two days, and to fly direct whenever possible. I am dying to hear your story.

LOL. Wage growth isn't coming until we turn down the spigot of immigration... both legal and illegal. If there is one economic takeaway I've gotten from living in Bahrain, this is it.

Yep, markets prefer deadlock. Less change that way. They like war, too.

I'm seriously not a fan of overdoing the social media angle, as it creates a terrible precedent to keep everything updated. If I see a business with a FB page where they haven't posted anything on their wall since June 2014, how can I tell if they're still around? It might be better for them never to have bothered.

You couldn't fly direct from Phoenix to Boston? I'm with froggoddess on the carryon thing, and only ever take the kind that go under the seat.
