It's driving me nuts that people are saying "why only care about France when brown places have explosions too!" I'd ask, "why care about terrorism when so many children drown?" Or "why care about gun violence when earthquakes happen?" Basically, it's NOT A CONTEST ( Read more... )

You said this entire post without ever using the word Wahhabite. Basically, you don't know how much you don't know. Hint: Abdullah's got a Ph. D in international relations and is sovereign in a moderate moslem country. You appear to get your information from Fox News.

Get more informed before you advocate for war. I beg you.

Lol. I could well say (roughly) the same of you, in regards to being ill informed. For instance, you wrote your entire post without using the word Salafist, and seem to get all your information from msnbc, and should really inform yourself on the nature of the enemy before you advocate inviting tens of thousands of them into your backyard ( ... )

I agree with all your points except the last one: we're not going to lose to the Muslims. The religious fanatics in our own government would nuke the whole biosphere to extinction before they let that happen.

Islam and Christianity have been at war since the Crusades. The Middle East has been a fragmented mess since the League of Nations chopped up the Ottoman Empire after WWI. The establishment of the State of Israel after the Post-WWII refugee crisis just put the icing on the cake.

Bottom line: every time Europeans or Americans have meddled in the Middle East for the past millennium, we've stirred up trouble for all concerned. I say we ought to get out of the entire region and stay out: stop sending troops, stop selling weapons, stop buying oil, stop trying to dictate their policies.

I'm very sorry for the Islamic refugees, but I don't see why they're our problem, or Europe's either, and I do think they're a significant security risk. It's politically-incorrect to refer to 'traditional' cultures as barbaric these days, regardless ( ... )

I can see where you're coming from, but I think for me it is more about the fact that I know in my heart that when I hear about a Middle East country sustaining civilian deaths in a bombing or other terrorist attack, I myself do go to a mental place of "That's just kind of happens there a lot, shrug ( ... )
