Aggressive Mist

My weather forecast calls for "cloudy" all day, but it's supposed to be rainy later in the week so I put a load of bedding on the line this morning in expectations that this would be a reasonable drying day.  Apparently not.  It's been lightly raining all morning.  So lightly that I thought it was just mist at first ( Read more... )

I have that series on my "to read" list already - I started The Way of Kings by him a few weeks ago. Reading on Kindle I had no idea how loooooooong this book would be and while it had a slow start I'm seeing now that I'm 80% through it that this is truly Epic. I am loving it for the same reasons you're loving Mistborn. I only picked it up because I love Patrick Rothfuss books and he recommended it, but I'm sure glad I did.

thanks for the rec. i've started reading a lot of fiction again, and a downfall of being a fast reader is running out of books. fantasy/sci-fi ish stuff is a generally new genre for me--i've read some connie willis in the past, and octavia butler very recently, but otherwise it's unexplored territory.

Oh my mom has this book in her pile of To-Read of scifi/ fantasy.

He still sees their most basic plotline to revolve around trying to avoid being raped. Uggh. So not great, but basically, I've relaxed my standards sufficiently when I say "I'm happy not to be annoyed".

This basically encapsulates why I avoid a lot of fantasy fiction that happens in some mythical past or some society that is a dressed-up Europe in the middle ages.

I love Captain Corelli's Mandolin; it's one of my favourite books of all time. I'll never get rid of the copy sitting in my bookcase.
The movie was terrible, don't watch it if you haven't - they chaqnged the ending :(((

I'll put The Mistborn Trilogy on my to-read list.
