I'm going to the island today.  Really really I am.  I say this with resolve, yet haven't budged from my desk since 8 AM and can't imagine how I'm going to get everything done so I can leave in an hour.  But I'm leaving ( Read more... )

Listen to it on the radio?

The radio announcers are SO much better anyway because they can't dick around, they have to TELL you what's happening. Unlike the TV guys.

My ex-husband used to watch live games muted with the radio broadcast on, it's so bad around here.

Good idea. Better than most I've come up with. For example, our neighbor here on the island is a Big Name in sports casting; I figure he must have a good football-watching setup...all we have to do is call and ask. But B. finds my extroverted "ask someone for help"solutions horrifying.

If you're a fan, it's kind of a big deal to actually *watch* the game. Ask your broadcaster friend, or go another weekend. Book a massage or something to make sure you get away from your desk this weekend though.

If they have broadcast tv on the island, pick up a 15 inch and a set of rabbit ears from best buy on the way.

I expect I'd be able to here to groans and cheers of Ravens fans even if I were several states away. Can you count on something like that?

We're having some family over to the house on Sunday and had to purchase basic cable for the occasion. I don't care much about football in general (I like when the Pats win, I guess, but I'm not all that bummed if they don't), but I can imagine how I'd feel if it were a Red Sox World Series game (or would have, once upon a time - being 3000 miles away for the last 6 years, plus the two championships, have mellowed my rabid fandom a bit)... so Comcast is getting an extra $21.50 this month.

Hope you made it out to the island.
