The opposite of writer's block

Dec 01, 2008 23:17

I can't blog right now because I'm all writered-out.  In the past two days I've been on a writing jag and now have two brazen documents that are ten pages each and contain the soul of my project.

But then I go on to talk about my project a bit... )

municipal power, values, hunting

No interest whatsoever in sitting for 12 hours alone and still in a freezing cold and possibly dripping wet forest.
I do understand ( ... )

Although buckshot is legal in MA, it's not allowed on this particular hunt. I'm restricted to slugs only. I've got some copper sabot slugs for the actual hunt. It's not a rifled barrel, just a 20 gauge with an improved choke. It's got a fixed sight that I've got sighted in.

I actually can hit things at 50 yards NOW, but couldn't the first few shots and that makes me nervous. I think I need to go back and practice more. This isn't about animal cruelty: I only want to take a shot if I have a reasonable expectation of being able to drop it with one slug.

Certainly it would be easier to hunt with a rifle, but they're just not allowed for hardly ANYTHING in MA. I could use a rifled barrel, but I don't have one and I've sort of hit the limit on hunting apparatus I'm willing to go out and buy at this point.

Yeah, I know you're really handicapped up there. Just checking on what was possible - buckshot's good to 50, but you'd probably want to choke it more than IC. If you get more serious, a rifled barrel would be the thing to get. Those and saboted slugs will extend your reach to a quite reasonable 100 yards. I think I need to go back and practice more.
Practice is never a bad idea ( ... )
