Repeat, Forever.

Several years ago I made some significant changes to my life and lost 82 pounds. I don't think about fat loss much anymore. I've maintained at about 75 pounds lost for over two years now. The changes I made back then are so thoroughly integrated into my life that it's not usually an issue. If I go too long without exercise I start to go insane, ( Read more... )

This seriously calls into question whether I'm still a triathlete. I think the answer might be "no".

I thought the rule was to claim you are a triathlete you must:

1. Complete at least one tri a year.
or
2. Have completed the long course once (after that you can claim it forever).

As for me, Monday starts a formal training schedule for my first actual race the last weekend in April. I've been saying I'm doing to forever now...time to quit saying.

However, I would also offer that triathletes at that level are not truly fit.

Being able to do aerobic endurance events doesn't mean you can sprint or lift heavy things or have good flexibility. It's a bit silly to try to say someone isn't fit who can complete a triathlon, but I do understand that it's not necessarily the only (or even best) kind of fitness to have.

The lifting and sprinting issue I can see, but how can you be able to do the transitions without injury if you're not flexible?

I can relate to this post in so many ways. I was only a triathlete for a year of my life but it was a GREAT YEAR!! The cross-training did wonders for me and I'm convinced I need to get back into it but boy, it's time consuming. And it sounds like you have had your share of busy times lately.

Re: the flabby. I have one too, and ever since I weened my daughter it has been hell trying to keep my weight down. Not sure how one does it, but I admire anyone who managed to lose more than a few pounds post child. If you can do that, you can do anything!
