Putting my seat where my bicycle is

We're not camping right now.  I meant to be, this was our week-end to do a shake-out trip to get ready for our two week trip to Kentucky.  We always do that before big trips; take the camper on a short trip, just see what needs work, what we've forgotten.  In preparation for the shake-out trip I took my van into the shop for a scheduled ( Read more... )

You really shouldn't need a granny gear on a proper road bike. The frame geometry should make up the difference.

I use the term "granny gear" to mean the largest toothed ring on the back while in the smallest front gear ring. In other words, the easiest gear I've got. So every bike has an easiest gear. This "easy gear" just isn't as easy as the old ones were.

Am I using the term wrong?

Thanks. I hadn't realized it was peculiar to the triple. I've been using the term wrong.

I'm still thinking about swapping out my rear cassette, but am working on my back-up plan, which is to butch the fuck up. :-)
