It might feel like worse than you can deal with right now, but I’ve been thinking about how there have been far worse times than these. Difficult times are what make history as people fight through them, and while this may indeed be the worst of our lifetimes, that just shows how lucky we’ve been til now, to live in this lifetime.
This is not the worst point in human history, it’s not even the worst point in American history: this is a country where people owned other human beings as slaves, after all, and where invaders killed off 98% of an indigenous population. This is not the worst anything. Fighting this, exterminating this particular wave of fascism, is a really important thing. I’m reminding myself that fighters have, throughout history, kept humanity progressing forward, through even darker periods than this one. Like “what would Harriet Tubman do?” Because the work is important and necessary in a way I may not be used to, or have ever seen, but it’s only new to me, not new to history.

I recall watching Trump laud Andrew Jackson and laughing at him for being uneducated. I didn't realize that he wished to be as awful as Andrew Jackson. Perhaps this is America's version of a bimbo eruption. Every now and then we just elect a genocidal maniac.

There is no such thing as 'socially liberal but fiscally conservative'. There's no such thing as a Christian Libertarian either: either you believe in the teachings of Christ, which are directly and intrinsically opposed to the Libertarian philosophy, or you don't. So which is it?
