Seems a lot has happened in a month. [A pause, as he takes the cigarette out of his mouth, after all this was serious.] What do we know about these murders? More importantly, what are the Guards doing about it?

I'd tell you to ask the guy who's been broadcasting his "blog" about the murders, but it looks like someone didn't want him talking. [ Neil does a bit of business in that distract, and the rumors of the doctor's misfortune were hard to miss. ]

Yeah. Shot. Bloody mess from what I heard - which makes it different than the others.

Who was he?

Some house doctor. I didn't catch the name, just a few whispers about what happened. His broadcasts might still be on the network log, if you check back a few days, and want to know what he discovered. [ A sigh. ] That's probably what got him in trouble.

How did the others die?

[struck_first]

Violently. Some kind of... mutilation, and maybe even poison involved. [ He shook his head. ] I haven't been listening to him, to be honest.

A murderer is out loose and you don't care. What kind of idiot are you?

[He'd spent his life tracking down similar stories, but in those cases the culprits where always less than human.]

[ Scowling. ]I've practically moved into another house on the other side of town at the risk of being beaten by Sir Ono, to protect people close to me, and still manage to keep my day job.

[ He straightens up, peering down at the device. ] I'd like to see you balance that.

[He approved of the response.]

Seems you're not as worthless as I thought.

Have the victims had any strange wounds? [Neck wounds were a dead give away to vampires, but not all vampires were that stupid, only the Level E's.]

[ A brief hum; not exactly derisive, but not approving either. He's so glad to have this stranger's approval for his behavior. ] Groin injuries, I think. Discoloration of the skin. That's about all I know. I didn't get any of this from the guard, who seem more worried about keeping up appearances than actually solving anything. [ So far as he could tell. ]

[A brow rises at the groin injury part. Not exactly one of his top picks.]

They're worthless then. Tch. [How annoying. He was hoping they would have some answers, but apparently, they were a waste of time.]

Who did you get it from then? [Someone knew something.]

I've got some friends who are following the case. I trust them.

We're not detectives. [ Speaking for them, sure, but he's confident in his assumptions. ] We're more worried about keeping people safe than getting in over our heads chasing down a brutal killer.

--besides, I'm not as armed as I'd like to be for a situation like this.
