Now that the movie is out and in a format everyone should be able to watch... what did you guys think of it? Did you like how they handled the characterization? Do you think they handled the time constraints skillfully? Was the new animation well-integrated to the rest of the movie? Would you change anything? Hmm I say a bunch of stuff I saw already, the new scene from Episode 11 was a little bit over the top.. in a bad way. =/ Yoko's fight should have been longer too, I would have liked to see them fighting. ;P Lets hope the second one will have something new to see. =/

I wasn't very impressed with the first half, but the second half was pretty awesome. Go Adiane! I was a bit disappointed that they just blew through Kittan's intro, he doesn't get enough love as it is..... Overall though, I think they were trying to condense way too much into a short amount of time.

It felt a little rushed, but that's probably just because it's hard for me to dissociate Gurren-hen from the series and judge it as a movie in its own right. I love the minor details and scenes from the show, so of course I'll miss those. (Can you imagine if it had remained the planned 52 episodes ( ... )

I thought it got the main characters down pretty good for a movie that had to squish a large part of story down to movie format. The dynamics between Kamina-Simon-Yoko and Simon-Nia was done justice to. The only part that came off as really awkward was the music montage with character introductions.

I wish the first half had more new animation, but the new stuff kicked ass (especially the final attack ´A`). Very happy to learn the second movie will have more new footage.

Hated the first half, absolutely LOVED the second half. I loved how they kept the upside down hug thing between simon and nia, that was cute. I loved how the generals were all together this time, it was pretty interesting but didn't feel as challenging as I thought it should have.

The second half totally made up for the first half imho :D
