Conestoga Invite

On rare occasions, one of the Oklahoma science fiction conventions has trouble finding guests, and I suppose they find my name in the SFWA directory and send me an invite. Conestoga sent me an invite today, a sure sign of desperation.

I think you should accept. It's a good convention. I was the webmaster for the last 4 years. I didn't do their current website but it's based on my layout. Melissa was the programming chair for six years. Elspeth is now the programming chair and has been doing a good job for the last two.

And if you do go, they may put you on a panel with Selina. OK, maybe you shouldn't accept ;-).

The website looks nice.

It was Elspeth who emailed me. I think I should know her, but I'm having trouble putting a face to the name?

Selina Rosen?

What sorts of panels do they usually have? It's been a long time since I made it to Conestoga...

Did they ask you solely based on the publishing aspect? It's not like you don't write and fanfic is a big thing. You might have fans you don't know about. ;-)

I'm assuming it's based soley on the publishing aspect. Admittedly, I haven't participated in the con scene for many, many years, but back when I did, writing fanfiction was not something most people would admit to doing...

I would ask directly, then you can make your decision based on that information. Maybe fanfic has gained in visibility in the meantime. If not, then you can respectfully decline. ;-)
