I got an email from the editor of the Payne County Audubon Society newsletter, Feathers, asking if I'd like to do a monthly column about birds in my backyard. I didn't have to think very hard before saying yes. I love birds; I love writing; and I love my yard; so what better combination could there be? The column will be titled, "At SunDog House." My mother wrote an environmental science textbook some years ago on an ancient Mac. The floppy disks on which it was stored can no longer be read. She thinks she could revise it and possibly sell it if she could get it into an electronic format that she could work with.

On rare occasions, one of the Oklahoma science fiction conventions has trouble finding guests, and I suppose they find my name in the SFWA directory and send me an invite. Conestoga sent me an invite today, a sure sign of desperation.

I'm still feeling unsettled.

Part of it is the workload. I'm currently working on three projects: I'm finishing up the WMD manual; I'm writing Fire Investigator; and now I'm revising Haz Mat for First Responders to bring it current with NFPA 472, 2008 edition.
