So how did you leash train your cats anyways?

I've been training cats on leashes for a long time...so far, my two boy Abys (Jake and Gun-Hee) have been the best at it. They were both really attached to me and had super-strong "follow mommy" instincts. Basically they both decided that as long as I'm around, they're safe. Gun-Hee had the advantage of being born in September, so he was only 6 months old when warm weather came; Jake was born in April, so we only got to go out a couple of times before it got too cold. He's only been out about 10 times.

Even Angel, who's a skittish rescue, was good on a leash right from the start, even though she was over a year old the first time we tried it. Abys are weird, though: they will also wear sweaters and coats when it's cold without complaining

i just stuck my tortie in Wiley's harness today, and she handled it well. how hard is it for them to back out of those? i don't think Aggie would back out of the harness i have, but i've been concerned about Wiley's skittishness. he's backed out of it once before thanks to an off-leash dog, and i've been considering a better harness for him.
