Angel is only 3 years old, but she's probably spent more time in vets' offices than the other cats combined. She spent a lot of time in her carrier, which is her safe zone. Luckily, she views her carrier as a refuge; she spent almost 6 hours in it when we flew back from California, so she could very easily be frightened of it.

We went to the vet today for annual check-ups and shots. And while we were there, Jacoby did the sweetest thing. Angel had reached her threshold for interaction and being out in the open, and went into her carrier bag to escape. And Jake (who wasn't fazed at all by being jabbed, poked, and pinched) saw her and cuddled up with her for comfort.

Abyssinians make doing chores around the house so much more fun. Take emptying the dishwasher, for example. I can't even imagine what it would be like to attempt this task without Angel supervising.

Jacoby really missed me when I was gone. I walked in the door and Jake's eyes lit up and his tail started twitching...it was heartwarmingly gratifying. I took him out into the hallway to run, but instead of running on the carpet, he just followed me, looking up at my face and watching my hands...he wasn't happy until I got down to his level on the ( Read more... )
