Angel is only 3 years old, but she's probably spent more time in vets' offices than the other cats combined. She spent a lot of time in her carrier, which is her safe zone. Luckily, she views her carrier as a refuge; she spent almost 6 hours in it when we flew back from California, so she could very easily be frightened of it.

We went to the vet today for annual check-ups and shots. And while we were there, Jacoby did the sweetest thing. Angel had reached her threshold for interaction and being out in the open, and went into her carrier bag to escape. And Jake (who wasn't fazed at all by being jabbed, poked, and pinched) saw her and cuddled up with her for comfort.

Yesterday, because I abandoned him for a week, I took Jacoby downtown with me to run errands. We went to CVS, the shoe repair place, and the post office...then we spent a good long time at Binford Park. One thing I love about that park is the way the plants change during the year. Right now, there is a lot of gorgeous blooming lavender.

As I've mentioned in the past, a goal of mine is to register Jacoby as a therapy cat. I actually took my first "Human End of the Leash" pet partner training course sponsored by Tufts Paws for People last Sunday. For some reason, Angel rarely comes up on the bed with us. Jake is almost always lying near my head or between us when I wake up, but the most Angel usually ever does is come into the bedroom when she hears us stirring ( Read more... )

Jacoby is my cat, at least as far as he's concerned. I went to take a nap over the weekend, and Jake took it upon himself to stand guard and protect me from any dangers that might befall me as I slept.
