Yup, you people. You as in plural. Plural as in all. You're curious beings. I'd rate myself as one of you, but you know, I'm an individual and You are Many. What could I possibly know about You?

What could I know about you and your sexual orientation, your color, your oppression and misrepresentation. Nothing, after all I'm just a mongrel of a ( Read more... )

And to you, I say "Hell yeah."
Believe it or not, there's a heck of a lot of pressure involved in being a straight white male of Christian origins, also. Without going into the complexities, I'll just say that it's something I'm still puzzling out in my own way... as well as where I fit into things in the grand scheme, and how I feel about it all.

But I'm willing to admit I'm probably wrong about some things. Which, I ain't saying. :)

Any bigotry I have in me I attempt to keep to myself because no human being is free of it. All that matters is how you deal with it.

My solution is twofold.

A: I'm only bigoted against controllable factors. Your skin, sexuality, etc? Not controllable, not an issue.
Your lack of education, fundamental douchebaggery or overwhelming compulsion to blast shitty rap music out of your car so loud I can hear it over my own music, from my basement, at the back of the house, which is set 100 feet back from the street to begin with? Hell yes I'll give you grief over that.

B: I'm bigoted against everyone. Equal opportunity. Even myself. Mostly myself, really. Is only fair :)

And mongrels are the only way to go - we're just the leading edge of what will soon be the norm.
