Dangers of Outdoor Housing

This is not directed at those in circumstances out of their control where they are trying to make the best of things. This is for all of us who want to do the best for our piggies, why we are all here, and are in a position to do so ( Read more... )

i love your comfy cosy, the ones i bought for the lads are too small - they can barely park their fat bums in them!
that is such a good point about wood soaking up urine being smellier than the C&C cages as well especially as piggies are usually less likely to piddle in a litter tray than bunnies, preferring to do it whenever the mood takes them (usually on mom's lap!)
"they love to be clean" - can you come and lgive the lads a lecture on the pleasures of being clean pliss?
"They will get excited and greet you even when they don't want fed"
HAHAHAHAhahaha

ROFL, I admit there may be a difference with boy and girl pigs on that front x) But boy pigs like being cuddled more right?

i've not had experience of girl pigs but i'm pretty certain that all my boys want me for is to provide them with fud. However as slow moving fat bottomed and not very intelligent beings, they are easy to capture for hugs as and when required by Mom

Hee, that's her favourite cuddle cup, she loves it best :) I think maybe with her bad eyesight she can see yellow the best, or perhaps she is just a punk chick at heart and digs the skulls :D

Thanks for this.
Feyaro loves to go outside but I haven't taken him out all summer b/c our neighbors have evil yappy dogs that aren't leashed & I can't risk it

You're welcome :D

That really sucks :/ It's a shame when you do the best you can and then because of other people you can't do some things you would like to for your pigger.

Also, If I was to build a C+C cage, is it possible to kitten-proof? and is it easy to clean out?

And I have a £60 maximum budget to get some other form of accomodation for them. Can I make a C+C cage (big enough for two of course) cheaply and easily in the UK?

Yes, and yes for the first two. :) A piece of long wire shelf can be cable-tied like a hinge over the top of the cage; put a blankie on top, and the kitten will probably end up hanging out there. Put pigloo(s) and other hidey-hole spots in the middle of the cage, where the little booger can't reach.

No one's mad at you for asking an honest question; some people phrase things a little strongly here, and then a few others are always ready to jump in with "Don't listen to them! They're always mean, you poor dear" or be snide instead of being civil. (Remember, a tilde means you're right by default!)

By "vet bedding," you mean fleece? That stuff is fantastic. Just shake out or vacuum the poops before you wash it, and make sure it's wicking up the pee properly. :)
