Stuff to get into, shizzle I pondered

So I was just wondering, well, we have the mad skills of Japanese hand-drawn 2-D animation, and we have Pixar-awesome 3-D animation, so why hasn't anyone mixed the artistry of 2-D with the power of computers? Well, I think I finally found a good example of it:

I mean, the fish bowl effect could be drawn by hand, sure, but throw the powers of a ( Read more... )

You'll enjoy FLCL. (pronounced FOOLY COOLY) (Or FURI KURI) (or however you want) Point is, it was Gainax' first computer generated anime, and it's absolutely gorgeous and insane. I mean, they go to great lengths to make it replicate the look of traditional animation, and even mobile manga pages, but it's just off the scale.

Oh man, yeah, I know about FLCL... I'm just not worthy enough to watch it just yet. :-) Apparrently one of the guys in charge of animation for Gainax said the manga scene would be impossible.. so I definitely want to see it just for that scene alone.

I only own one anime and it's Akira, meaning I have super-snob standards of some strange sordid sort, but I'm saving a spot for FLCL (and Neon Genesis Evangelion).

well, I know I definitely want to study abroad there... We'll figure it out, I'm sure. See, back in 6th grade I wanted to be working and living in Japan by 23 for a video game company. I wish it could still happen by then, but I think it's more reasonable to first study there and get an idea of what I want from the place first...

Hey, I was just thinking.... we should go to Brazil for CARNAVAL. And where's the next World Cup gonna be? That's a total boozefest that we absolutely cannot miss out on. Only thing is, Carnaval is on the same dates for Mardi Gras in NO, but maybe if we time all the trips right it will still all be in one year...
