So I was just wondering, well, we have the mad skills of Japanese hand-drawn 2-D animation, and we have Pixar-awesome 3-D animation, so why hasn't anyone mixed the artistry of 2-D with the power of computers? Well, I think I finally found a good example of it:
I mean, the fish bowl effect could be drawn by hand, sure, but throw the powers of a computer in and behold more amazing eye candy with the same budget!! I can't wait to see more examples of this in the future..
Also love the song, but if you check out the opening to this anime, I like that song better. Sorry, I'm too lazy to offer a link.
Note the 1st: I will now obsessively draw Ryuk, the demon you see in the first episode. Fuck the design of this guy is pure sex. Pure, raw, fucking, SEX!! It has a bit of an American comic feel to him, I just can't pin down from where though... I think Spawn (actually I first thought of Joker from Batman), but then I think of spandex and its deathsqueeze grip around the balls of American comics, causing them to be infertile, thereby leaving us only with the ability to clone again and again more spandex wearing heroes.. oh the sadness. Anyways, major props for smexy good design. I think I'll have sex with Ryuk in my dreams now, sure, why not.
Note the 2nd: I will now obsessively look for this manga in Little Tokyo (or just buy the books from Viz). Oh, hell, I just need to make a laundry list of shit to buy from LT and have a field day when I finally go back. Books and music mostly :P and maybe some clothes, but Koreatown's got a better selection on the fashion.
Note the 3rd: I wanna see
Kamikaze Girls.
Note the 4th: I'm a horrible fangirl of Bleach seeing as I'm only absentmindedly watching the episodes on YouTube and not even reading the manga.. I mean, fuck, I only got to Book 2 and stopped. I really oughta catch up to the current storyline. :P Kubo Tite's art deserves that much from me!
Note the 5th: Let's see if I'll still be in Tokyo by 23.
5a: I will totally rock the
classic lolita look when I live there. Hell, I wanna rock it now.
