There was more than one reason Dimitri kept rejecting Rose's desire for an earpiece while guarding and Yuri seemed intent on proving each and every one of them as valid.
He had to remember Rose was the reason he was sitting in Chicago, listening to Yuri prattle on about the lack of businessmen to blend in with. She deserved to be happy for her graduation, and if happy meant Lissa, then he would do everything in his power to get Lissa there. And unscathed.
The double guardian coverage had been his idea, despite the difficulties it posed to Adrian's existence in Fandom. If Dimitri was being honest with himself, Yuri was Dimitri's backup should he fail in his duty to guard Lissa with Rose nearby.
