Yesterday morning, my mother phoned to say that I've gotten mail... from Austria. I stopped by at night to pick it up. Surprise! filialucis's Christmas Card has finally finished crossing the pond and arrived safely to its final destination. The stamp that the Paraguayan post office puts on the envelopes it receives says it arrived early in April... the stamp ( Read more... )

I'm packing... and this time I'm taking my guitar with me. Tomorrow I fly to Lima, Peru, where I'll attend the XX International Guitar Festival, a yearly event organized by the Peruvian-American Cultural Institute (ICPNA). ... and I've been pondering over some things. One of those pondering moments was prompted by a politically correct Holiday greetings message I received in my mail box. It used to be easier when I was a kid, although maybe that has to do that my world was very small, with very close borders... we shared the same beliefs in my family ( Read more... )

While on vacations last week, Karin and I visited several branches of a chain of book stores in Buenos Aires: El Ateneo. One of the premises is particularly attractive: it is located in a refurbished theater. A cafeteria is located on stage; the view of the store from it is great.

Yesterday morning we had to ring the vet because Nacht, our dog, had had a terrible night coughing and gagging. The vet stopped by and took Nacht for a check out. The result: she's got a heart condition -- probably since her birth -- and it's caused her a small edema.
