OMG ITS FREEZING

Feb 02, 2009 00:54

This is the coldest day ever since I've been in London. Every limb is frozen. My thighs feel like ice cubes. My fingers are ice. The water bottle I had in my bag is as cold as if I'd taken it straight out of the fridge. It snowed three times! I haven’t seen it snow once since I've been here and now three times in a row! Very light snow, so not ( Read more... )

Really? Cold in London? *goes check meteomedia* From what it says now it is only barely -7. Was it colder?

I mean -7 is a walk in the park for me. Here in Canada we suffer -30ies. I have to wake up early in the morning to catch my bus to work and I usualy wait 10 minutes in the cold for it. Now that is freezing, a -30 in the morning with freezing wind blowing in my back. It gets through my huge coat. Speaking of coats, teenagers around here barely wear one or it is really light and short, and then they are crying on the phone with their friends that they are freezing. No duh!

I went to buy myself lunch the other day and I saw people holding their ears cause they didn't have a hat on or just dressed lightly. I wanted to take them by the shoulders and shake them! Of course you are cold! Where do you think you are people! And Montreal does have weird weather patterns too...

/end freezing weather rant

Good job at finishing your essay!

Barely -7!? Actually, it was just above freezing when I went out, but it felt colder. Honey, you have to remember that I was raised in the Caribbean, where people are complaining that it's cold at 21 (yes, I shake my head too). I've inured myself to the cold somewhat, but below freezing is unbearable for me. That's why I do not want to live in Chicago ever again. All the family I'm close to is there and it's cool and all, but hell no. Not doing that again. That situation you're describing is the stuff of my nightmares. I'd rather melt to death at 32. At these temperatures, I don't step out the door unless I'm starving and there's no food left in the house. Seriously, this Christmas in Puerto Rico everyone kept asking me how come I wasn't cold because I was wearing short sleeves ( ... )

Haha, cold. Come to Canada, I'll show you COLD. XD Though, realistically, I think our temperatures are often close to the same. :P

And hey, again, if there is a TV show you want, let me know the name and I will do my best to get you links! I can promise links of any fandom I actually have, of course, but I can try for any!

Yes, I know, I know. I did live in Chicago for three years, so I know this is mild by northern standards, but there is a reason I'm not living there anymore. Again, I'm Puerto Rican. winter is something we see in movies.

Thanks. Unfortunately, for the next six weeks I have to buckle down and work on three essays, plus the final abstract of the dissertation, but after that I'm certainly going to need a break.

Would you send some of the snow to Israel? :D We didn't have winter at all this year.

You want snow? Take it. I do all I can to get away from the stuff. It's pretty, but so not my thing.
