Editing a story? Listen!
I'm a commuter, and so I listen to a lot of podcasts, audio books, etc. Recently, I finished revising two of my earlier stories, and that's when I had a brainstorm about my new MacBook.
I saved one of my stories as an .rtf file, and opened it in TextEdit, the Mac's built-in editor. I then accessed the menu: TextEdit:Services:Speech:Start Speaking ( Read more... ) -

Hugo Award's New Category
Last night, Kaja and Phl Foglio's Girl Genius, Volume 8: Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones, won the Best Graphic Story category of the 2008 Hugo Awards! Many congrats to them! And so we're losing another SF/F magazine.... Jim Baen's Universe will be closing shop in April 2010. This news went out August 1st, but I just caught it this morning from Locus' page.

Adventures in Sci Fi Publishing is back!
Earlier this year I discovered the Adventures in Sci Fi Publishing podcast. It was excellent, funny, and anything but dry. They have (now) 80 episodes under their belts, with many fine interviews with writers from across the SF/F spectrum. Holly Lisle is a writer that also teaches. I found her through her free content, though she also has pay-for materials and courses.

I did this meme yesterday and came up Robert Heinlein but didn't save it. Today I came up E. E. Doc Smith. Very cool either way! Especially if it really said something about my writing! Sigh.
