These people seem to forget that bullies are both intelligent and sometimes religious. Also, that intent doesn't matter as much to the receiver when you go home from school every day and cry.

"Homos are sinners" *IS* a statement of sincerely held religious belief to the people that are shouting this kind of stuff to LGBT kids in school every day.

And the idea that teachers will be allowed to say that sort of thing is especially troubling. When I was in middle school, I once had a teacher go off on a rant about how he thought gay people were gross. I'm sure if he were ever called out on it, he would just use his religious beliefs as an excuse.

They did the same here in Washington several years ago. But it eventually passed. The excuses just don't make sense :-\

the scary thing in Michigan is that the Republicans pretty much control everything now (both houses and the state supreme court, and both our governor and AG are Republicans). So, if they can agree that they want something, there is really nothing to stop them other than getting enough signatures to put something on the ballot.
