He is not the first or only in the Catholic church to say that the issue has nothing to do with being gay, but he is one of the more recent who has been picked up by the media, even if it is only NPR.

It's good to show that not all Catholics - and certainly not all Christians - are bigots who drink the Pope's Kool Aid. I think most people realize that, logically, but it's nice to see an outspoken example of it.

The Catholic Church loves to demonize gays, so of course they use this scandal to try and deflect some of the blame.

The real problem is that, Catholic families who think their son might be gay push him into the priesthood. His sexuality is retarded, so although having sex with children looks like pedophilia, it's not really that in the exact sense. His sexuality is retarded at childhood, so children are who he's sexually attracted to. I'm sure it's a fine distinction, and I'm no expert on pedophilia or psychology.

There is also a lot of gay sex that takes place in the seminaries and churches all over the world. I just heard the other day that the Vatican has "cruising" spots for gay hook-ups between the clergy there.

Basically, I think it's time for the catholic Church to come out of the closet.

And it's past time to start viewing pedophilia as an illness, and studying it in the hopes of finding a cure or a viable treatment.
