At least our bodies aren't exhumed, spit on, and dragged to our parents' home.

...at least, not as often.

All things considered, the US is kind of the middle of the road as far as gay violence goes. Africa and some parts of South America are much worse, yes, but most of Europe is a lot better. That said, I'm glad that some international attention is being given to the violence, though I am worried; looking at how international attention to the anti-gay laws last fall actually increased the amount of support FOR the law, I'm concerned that this could actually lead to so-called Christians jumping on the bandwagon for more gay violence.

This post is racist. >;o Clearly every single African on the planet loves and cherishes gays.

Jokes aside, it is indeed pretty sad for gay people who live in those countries. Maybe Fred Phelps and Co. should bring their magic-based pickets to that continent.

This. There's been quite a bit of coverage of how American evangelicals are helping to finance and drive the passage of laws that outlaw homosexuality, complete with ridiculously long jail sentences. It's awful.

Bit of a random request, but do you happen to have any links or references on the involvement of evangelicals and such laws? I've been meaning to look into that for a while now.
