So I graduated college in May, and recently purchased a new car and started a new job. I'm trying to personalize these spaces without being over the top. While I'm not a fan of the HRC, their logo is ubiquitous with the equality movement and thus easily recognizable, but still tasteful and subtle.
I went to order a couple of car magnets, so I could put one on my car and one in my office, for $4 each. My total was $8, which while a little much a couple of magnets was ok.
I went to check out, and they wanted to charge me over $20 to ship - standard - two glorified bumper stickers (it was $17 for just one). Now, they advertise as shipping products via either UPS or USPS. And the USPS charges nothing extra to come to Alaska. They could send it with a few stamps, but they'd rather take advantage of the very people they claim to represent because it's a profit center. Fuck that. It's insulting.
It's a matter of principle; I'm not going to pay 2.5 times (or more than 4 times) the price of the merchandise on shipping. I sent them a bitchy e-mail, but I think we all know how worthless they are, so I'm not holding my breath.
So the moral of the story: don't buy anything from the HRC. Or, at least not from their website.
