That wasn't slash. Slash is usually subtext.

I'm not even going to try to be coherent about Hail, Caesar!  Here.  Have some bullet points that pretty much come down to 'Yeah, go see that!'
  • This movie is solid crack when it's not solid sex.  Okay, fine.  It's kind of crack/satire/Hollywood movie set piece all laid over as much sexual symbolism, innuendo, and crotch shots as they could manage.

Thanks for reporting on this. I've been wondering if it was a case of all the good bits being in the trailer which would leave me massively disappointed. Now I know better.

I don't remember the last time Dragon and I have still been snickering that long after the movie ended. (I don't remember seeing the trailers, honestly.) But yes. It was a lot of cracktastic fun.

Yes to all of this.

EDIT: LJ posted tihs before I was done.

It has moved up to just behind The Big Lebowski in my pantheon of awesome Coen Bros movies. The humor is cracky, incredibly fast-paced, and the casting is inspired. I laughed at Jonah Hill, fergodsake. Once again, Tilda Swinton is a gift to humanity, and Channing Tatum was worth the price of admission.

Yeah, that was absolutely hilarious! I still don't believe they put Clooney in and turned him into the MacGuffin. Fun!

I was trying to describe your review to my husband last night, and he asked if it was like Monty Python, and I said it sounded more like Mel Brooks meets Japanese anime fan-service -- Unfortunately, if we go to a movie this weekend it will be more likely to be STAR WARS --- nothing against SW:TFA, I'd love to see it again, but I also love me some Christopher Lambert not matter how small the cameo!

I'm not sure what it's like. ::amused:: I have no idea what that was, but it was fun!
