1) He really is just a guy most of the time, one with very human priorities: food, drink, shelter, companionship/sex. Survival, however, comes first of those.
2) That said? Don't mess with his friends. Particularly Joe. (Amanda and MacLeod ought to be able to watch their own backs. Or heads.)
3) He's had time to gain a lot of skills, some more thoroughly than others. The problem is that some of those skills are associated with the personna that acquired them.
4) He can fight, very well, and can eat any damn quickening he has to. But he'd rather read a book, and he'd *really* rather not take a century becoming someone besides Death again.
5) Patience is a virtue, and it's only paranoia if it keeps you from staying alive, and yes, really, do nothing *is* a valid strategy. Especially in combination with 'pack and move' first.
Seconding the request for Matthew and Steve fic. (Also agreeing with all you've mentioned above about Matthew.)
And I realized that Matthew would probably remember hearing about the Red Skull's devastation attempts and Steve Rogers' plane going down. Wonder how it is for Matthew (who would never expect to see a mortal come back) seeing Captain America alive?
And of course Matthew takes a break from the LEO thing every so often. The FBI forces their agents to change out every few years, and I think I saw in my research that the agents who pursue serial killers are made to take breaks every two years. (As in they are taken off their cases.) The FBI does this to prevent agent burnout.
Hmmm could there be an opportunity for "that time Bruce met Matthew in Tibet" fic, for when Matthew was taking a break from being an LEO for a while?
If I'm going Opportunities-verse (and I may yet on that Matthew and Steve one, do a coherent universe of stuff with HL/Marvel), then yeah. Matthew was military intel during WWII. He *would* have heard about what Red Skull was up to, certainly after the fact.
Yeah, I don't know about now, now that they've folded ISU into NCAVC, but it used to be that 18 months was the limit on working the profiling type jobs. After that, they rotated you somewhere else in the FBI to recover from it. I have no idea *where*, mind.
I don't know about Matthew in Tibet, but Methos meeting Bruce in Tibet is possible. Problem is, I'm not certain I can write Bruce!

(Also, I am extremely excited that you're writing a Methos & Natasha fic. I can't wait to read it.)
