Weather and a meme

It's snowed, um, six times this  winter?  I'm in Memphis, folks -- this is unheard of.  The first snow was on Nov 30, which is the earliest I think I've ever seen snow here.  Now they're saying 4+ inches of snow/ice accumulation Wednesday.  If you're thinking our area is unprepared for this... you're right.

Oh, well. In the meantime, a meme gacked ( Read more... )

Something very few people know is that we went to kindergarten together. We first became friends when we realized that neither of us liked to be told when to nap. That, and a shared love for (and appreciation of the distinctions between) the blue-green and green-blue crayons in the big Crayola box. The rest is history.

And neither of you could ever stomach using the so-called "flesh tone" crayon.

How we met jimpage363 February 8 2011, 04:19:50 UTC
You and I met in that really gross jail cell in Istanbul, remember? You got pulled in for hustling fake spices down in the hotel district and I was in for VW rustling. We both got caught on the edges of the homosexual accountants' gang war in the shower room and wound up beating them off with bars of soap. (I STILL have carpal tunnel syndrome from that incident and you say you can never even look at a sausage again.) By the time the smoke bombs went off, we were the best of friends and have remained so ever since.

Hey, they were *not* fake. Just, you know, way past their prime. (And I still say the bug-rustling was a bum rap!) Forget sausage, I still shudder occasionally thinking about butter. But it was a great introduction!

There was that long hike through the lava fields in Iceland. We brought a picnic, but forgot to bring a corkscrew, so had to bring back the bottle of unopened. It was windier than we had planned, but the day was bright and clear and we made plans to be geologists, but then things went oh so wrong....

Pity. We'd have made great geologists. But the hike was great, the scenery was amazing, and the hot pool after...!

What, you don't remember when you were under investigation by a secret illegal government agency? I was in the surveillance van for weeks. Of course, it was embarrassing when I realized after all that time you'd swapped my signal with a reality tv show, but I don't hold a grudge or anything...

No, the part I remember is getting yelled at by the Fibbie brother for being under investigation to begin with. He makes do with volume and sarcasm. (Hey, the reality show was a pretty good one, you have to admit! I could have been worse. I could have looped Monty Python's Holy Grail?)

Snow. Good grief. I drove to work in the stuff this morning. I have a vet appointment in Oxford Wed morning so I hope it holds off until after I get home.

How I got to know you? Don't you remember?! *sigh*

Back in my less honest days I was planning to rob Fort Knox. Unbeknowst to me, you were as well. We both busted in at the same time and almost blew the whole thing. Luckily, we're both cool and calm and we ended up working together and pulling it off.

Not sure what you did with your share of the money, but I blew mine on the gorgeous man I met in Monte Carlo.

Yeah, snow. Maybe as much as half a foot, would you believe! I refuse to comment on what happened to my share of the gold. (It was pretty embarrassing.)
