I love it when these things are right up my alley... Today's Friday Fannish 5: Name 5 dead characters you'd like to see resurrected. I'm going Highlander only, because I have more than five in this one fandom alone.

I agree with you 100 %. Except I'd like to add 2 more dead characters: Duncan and Methos.

What was it that Stormy asked about D & M. Is it true that all the good men are dead, gay or taken and did all three apply to them?

Best of my knowledge, Duncan and Methos aren't dead? ::snickering:: Stormy would, I'm sure, but neither of them's gay, just taken.

I'll agree with you on Rebecca, Darius and Fitz. I'd add Richie too! And modern weapons give women (Grace hint) a new advantage. If any Immortal challenges a woman now, she could just pull out her handgun, shoot him, and then behead him with his own sword. lol!

There were never enough strong women on Highlander, which was a bit sexist, BTW. I still watched it anyway. (Shirtless Duncan and Methos, need I say more?)

Sword fighting actually favors men, because women don't have a lot of upper body strength. So any women Immortals who survive have got to have a lot of tricks up their sleeves. Which of course they never covered in Highlander.

Sigh.

No, they're still going to be accused of cheating if they shoot first, then slice. But we had some interesting women on Highlander -- they just rarely showed back up. Grace, Gina, Rebecca, Amanda, Kyra. I'd have loved to see more flashbacks with Rebecca, or Gina.

And yes, the upper body strength for men does help, but women tend to have better speed and coordination. A lighter weapon and they'll do just fine. But yeah, tricky would help a lot.

What's wrong with cheating? lol! And when I typed that I could just hear Duncan making honor comments, and Methos bugging him about being stuck in the age of chivalry. Some days I thought those two should just get a room.

Hmmm... are there any fanfics that focus on the female characters of Highlander? We really didn't see enough of them. I so wanted more.

The main problem with cheating is when word gets out that you do. A spouse who didn't get killed, an immortal who got away before dying, the cops actually show up fast... and then someone knows they can get away with shooting *you*. And they have motivation for a long-distance, pre-emptive strike. Screw the quickening, pass me the car bomb and remote detonator. ::shrugs:: Duels are bad enough, but no rules would get *really* messy.

And yeah, there are. Plenty of fanfic about Amanda or Tessa, some about Rebecca, a few with Kyra, Alex Raven, or Gina. Actually, that's an interesting question. Have you tried searching for the women on HL Fiction?

I would like to say Tessa, but her death actually made things more interesting. But I miss her.

For me, Kastagir was like Fitz: another immortal who didn't let the Game keep him from enjoying life. And I liked Tessa, but no, oddly, she didn't make this list.

argh. Fitz's death killed me. I still can't believe Duncan didn't do *something* -- ANYTHING. Damn.
