Two more characters who could use a hug?
Joe Dawson. He lost his lover to an immortal, his childhood sweetheart to her husband, and his daughter isn't giving him a break. Not to mention the Watchers treat him badly. *big hug*
I vote Joe gets triple points for all the reasons Duncan does, except he doesn't get the do-overs. Come to think of it, his career weirdly parallels Giles' in a lot of ways, too. Two (ex) girlfriends and a lot of (ex) Watchers.

There may be other times I've felt the ROG could really use a hug, but those are my top five. In the ROG's case he actually got a hug in the first episode in the list.
