Forever Knight question

Has anyone watched the Divia eps lately? Wikipedia shows her as not being LaCroix's daughter but treated as an adopted daughter, and I'm not so sure. ::amused:: What I'm actually trying to figure out is whether 'Lucius Divius' is canon or fanon, so that I can sort out his name for this fic. Any help, and sources for that info if possible, would ( Read more... )

Thanks, chica! I'm still confused, but at least now I'm confused about *canon*...

I'm lacking the appropriate icon, so I send you Methos instead.

My recollection is that she was his daughter. I would remember something about 'adopted'. I believe that what the whole twisted point in the third season episodes - the incest. The fact that she was both daughter and parent to him.

Um, 'adopted' doesn't negate the ick connotations of 'incest.' It would be a matter of how old she was when adopted, and the relationship. Thanks, though.

I haven't seen the Divia episodes at all. However, this might help: http://users.lmi.net/akr/fk/faq/divia.htm.
Unfortunately the site doesn't seem to have LaCroix. If nothing else, you could always ask the main Forever Knight mailing list: FORKNI-L. It's pretty quiet these days.

Hi, BadElement here. I read the transcript of Ashes to Ashes (the ep where Divia dies). Early on Lucius is speaking to his wife and refers to her and her daughter, seeming to indicate Divia is not his blood daughter. Later in the ep when speaking to Nick he refers to her as his daughter. Inconclusive. As to the 'Lucius Divius' issue, I have no idea. Haven't seen any of these eps since they aired the first time. I know, no help at all.

yeah, that transcript really could go either way. I think I'll likely go with Lucius Divius as his name, just because I'm used to it, but now I'll know how much canon there is (and isn't) to justify it. Thanks!

My recollection is that she is his daughter and that using Roman naming conventions his full name should include "Divius", but it's never stated that this is true.

As for him speaking to her mother and calling Divia "your daughter" it was not unusual for parents to refer to a child as the other parent's child (if that makes sense. Now-a-days it's mostly in the realm of "guess what your daughter did now?" but Romans were very formal about relationships.

Yeah, his name should be Lucius Divius (probably a cognomen, too), if she's his daughter. That can work for me, what the hell. ::grins:: So long as I know where the ground's shaky...
