The Odyssey seems like a hell of a lot of hurt to very little comfort. So it might qualify as OMG!Angst--except that Oedipus Rex makes the Odyssey look like fluff!fic.

::nodding:: Yeah, it really is. Especially since I seem to remember that Odysseus died by one of his own poison weapons later. Definitely angst there!

But I definitely think it's also the original crack fic, where anything could (and did) happen.

And don't forget that there is no such thing as 'out of character'. Gods behaive however they want to, and to hell with what they've done before.

::cheerful:: So very true. Worse! There were multiple versions of the same storyline! (Gee, this sounds familiar!)

::giggling:: Thank you! There I was, innocently reading Greek myths and going, 'Er, wait, didn't I just read an SGA fic that did that?' And then I thought about it and started laughing and listing crack fic tropes and I couldn't think of *anything* that Greek myth hadn't done. Frequently more than once. It was great fun!

Add to homosexuality long before Sappho's poetry merited her name as Muse: Athene and her very BFF Pallas the mortal. Diana and, well, anybody... Of course since it didn't muddle the genealogy, maybe they didn't care.

Interestingly enough, the Pallas I've run into so far... is a Titan whose hide Athena used as armor while fighting other Titans.

::grinning:: And yeah, Artemis and her huntresses do kinda make you wonder, don't they?

Hmm. Haven't heard of Titan Pallas, considering what Pallas means, but that goes with the Aegis, Medusa's head, isn't it? I'll have to go find my copy of Graves' Greek Mythology...

::nodding:: That does go along with the Aegis, yes. Makes me wonder if one's an alternate version of the other, too.
