Back in the day when there was just the first website and the mailing list, I happened to do a search on Lucien LaCroix fanfiction (this being two, no three fandoms back!!!) Fell in love with Adian, wrote you an email to add something to her duffle bag, and YOU WROTE BACK.

SQEEEEE and other fangirly noises. Lo these many years (!) later, I am still hanging around LOL.

Ultimately the only person to blame is Rex Stout, and since he's dead it's kind of difficult to get revenge except by making his estate wealthy. And that's not much of a revenge, is it?
