Throw me into the Spike's smile/Spike's eyes pile, lol.
But I voted Spike's eyes/Angel's smile simply because I think the window to the soul is a person's eyes and well, I just don't like Angel's soul - or his smile or his eyes or really him. Period.
As far as the book goes, I don't know if I could read it and enjoy it. Like the comics, I own all of season 8 and I just can't bring myself to read them. I have a perfect vision of what I as a fan wanted to think happened post-Chosen and I really don't want that fantasy tarnished. I try not to even read the comic spoilers, lol. I am a die hard Spike and therefore Spuffy fan and I just can't let Joss and his comic cronies ruin my dream, lol.

That's a really cool reason for choosing Spike's eyes!

I read the comics for the fic and fandom, but I'm the same way about having a personal vision/head-canon of what I think happened post-Chosen. :)

I'd rather have Spike's eyes/smile too. But since I had to pick, I went with Eyes of Spike and smile of Angel.

Spike's eyes, Spike's smile. I picked Spike's eyes because Angel has kinda beady eyes.

Honestly I can't really pull his smile up in my memory but in general I only find Angel attractive in Season one and part of season 2. By season five of Angel I found him particularly unattractive. He really didn't travel well.

I'll have to look at DB's eyes more closely the next time I watch Bones. I think I can picture what you mean.

Yeah, DB was definitely less attractive by the end of AtS. He'd gained a lot of weight and didn't wear it well. I think I read that he had a knee injury or something around that time, so maybe he had trouble keeping in shape? He's very slim nowadays, although I still prefer the way he looked as Angel overall.

There was some gossip going around that in addition to the injury, he stopped working out for the same reason JM did - he got tired of the writers whipping his shirt off all the time.

Really?? Inntteerresting. I didn't know JM did that on purpose. I missed shirtless!JM after S6...

Mystical love child has Spike's eyes and Angel's smile.

I like to imagine them out together, and a random stranger saying 'You've got your daddy's eyes!'. Spike would be pleased, until Angel's pouting threatened to put a dampener on the family day out, and he'd (grudginly) do something to make the child smile. Buffy would smack the back of Angel's head, loudly point out exactly whose smile the child had, then stalk off muttering about 'two mystical baby daddies being twice the work'.

At this point, I imagine the random stranger backing away slowly....

I voted Spike's eyes (they sparkle when he looks at Buffy in a certain way, like the drunk!Buffy scene), and Angel's smile. Not that I don't find Angel's eyes compelling, especially when he's somber, but both vampires bring something to the table for me. :)
