Random Fandom Fun Poll #7

Jan 07, 2012 11:35

Second time I'm trying to post this poll today because the first time LJ erased the question about Tara, and that's certainly not okay.  Apologies to the one voter who saw the messed-up poll before I could edit it.  This batch of questions is about the Scoobies (not including the lovely Summers women or the manpires) and whether you would want to ( Read more... )

I can't help but think Riley would make a good friend. FRIEND, not boyfriend. Though he was a good boyfriend, even if he wasn't right for Buffy.

Xander and Willow are the only ones I have strong opinions about. Xander's too "nice guy" for me, and I only like Willow when she's awkward teen!Willow, not super badass wicca mind controlling!Willow. I'd like Giles as a favorite uncle, but I'm with Anya, Cordelia, Oz and Tara for the long haul. And Dawn, if you put Dawn down (which I think you did deliberately because she's Buffy's sister, not her friend. Though they are friends. Just not external of family bonding friends).

I agree with you about Riley. However, in S5 he bears the brunt of my resentment toward the writers for framing the deterioration of the relationship as Buffy's fault, and I loathe him so much in "All the Way" that I could only put S4.

Ditto on Willow! Awkward Willow is my favorite. :)

Yup, I left Dawn out because she's a sister first and Scooby second. Same on the manpires being love interests/enemies first and Scoobies second (at least in the generalized sense; I guess Spike's a borderline-Scooby at some points after he's an enemy and before he's a viable love interest).

I think I'd like Willow and Xander best later on. Willow especially is the BFF/roomie everyone should have during freshman year of college. I wouldn't really want to be friends with Cordelia until AtS. Tara I would be friends with always, <3

Willow is great in that department during S4. I love how much she ships Buffy with whoever-will-make-her-happy, whether that's a vampire in early S2 or Riley in S4, and how vocally she despises Parker. I like your choice of icon!

Willow would drive drives me up the wall; I wouldn't mind being one of the people who says 'hey, Xander' in school or a workmate, but we don't have enough in common to get on as friends; Giles for always, even when we argued; Anya for always, for the lulz and good business decisions; Cordelia for always, if she'd have me because I'd never be a Cordette; Tara for always, because she's Tara and excellent, though we probably wouldn't be very close friends until she came more out of her shell; Oz and I would get on, but we could never hang out without me getting massively frustrated with the silences and wanting to go fuck some shit up; Riley and I have so little in common that being friends would be difficult, plus he's so Normal that I would never feel comfortable talking about most of my life with him.

I like your point on Anya and business decisions. Definitely for the lulz, too. Oh Anya. :)

Ditto on getting closer to Tara after she came out of her shell. I wouldn't be at all opposed to knowing her in S4, but we'd be far from bosom buddies.

I think I'm opposed to being super-friends with Willow because of her relationship with Xander, I'd never really want to have to deal with him - and they seem to come equipped with the other at all times.

Tara and I would be epic friends. Like, shy nerdy girls in the corner whispering about things other people don't understand while the whole world is drunk/not paying attention. Epic. Also - her dad = my dad. There's an understanding there that would make us inseperable for life.

Anya and Cordy are like the "cool girls" that I'd always consider my friends, but would agonize over whether or not they considered me one as well. They would, but I'd be really anxious about it.

The two not here - Faith and Dawn? They would be like family.

And I just don't see any long-term bond forming with the men here.

Hee, that is an interesting reason for eschewing Willow!

Tara could use more friends like that, considering how cut off from the Scoobies she seems to be after she and Willow break up; she didn't seem to have a lot of individual friends.

I said "long haul" for Xander, Giles, Tara and Oz. I think they are faithful and loyal friends and I could actually see having stuff in common with them. Plus I'm quiet, introverted and a music lover, so I see excellent friendships with Tara and Oz!
"Casual acquaintances for the long haul" for Riley, Cordy and Anya. Riley seems like a nice enough guy, but not one I'd bond with. Cordy and Anya I would always want around (they are hilarious and fierce!) but again I don't have much in common with them.
For poor Willow, I put "only in certain seasons"... cause I love her most of the time, but in S6 she quite honestly frightens me!

She frightens me, too, in S6. I feel bad saying I don't want to be friends with her then even though I do in the other seasons b/c the mark of a good friend is one who helps you during the rough patches, too, but her rough patches are so incredibly destructive and selfish and harmful to others. :/
