I have a big presentation to give today and I'm pretty nervous about it. But this video for some reason always calms me down and puts me in a good mood! It's from the Broadway musical Crazy For You. Points to the first person who recognizes the actor! *cough* Buffy fans, this one's for you!!

It's like giving matches to paper dolls
So there's this super amazing hip hop collective in the Twin Cities called Doomtree, and one of the rising stars is this chick Dessa. She has this intoxicating blend of spoken word, rap and singing with really incredible lyrics... and of course I hear Buffy's story in her lyrics. Because I always hear Buffy's story.

Been listening to a lot of Florence + the Machine lately, and this song always makes me think of Buffy and her journey through the seasons. Plus just plain gorgeous song. (And I finally figured out how to imbed video! I'm so not tech savvy.)

I am not a writer. I joined LJ as a way to better lurk in the BtVS online fandom. I doubt I'll be posting very often. But it occurs to me that I've been a member for a while now and haven't even shared the inspiration for my name!
