Oh I HOPE NOT. Re: Aaron's karma points. I'm pretty sure he's got more to work off than I do. He worked pizza delivery for a few years out of college and we suspect was exposed to low doses of most food borne illnesses over a long period of time.
It's stuffed. Most of the animals in my office are stuffed. :) The swan is just much larger than the ones that usually end up over my desk (it's the size of a medium dog).
It is legit, but I fear I'm starting to use it as a crutch. I can't have them eat dinner have food related hilarity, wake up to breakfast, skip to dinner and then go out for a snack... that's just lazy writing.
There is some of that. There's also some food as comfort stuff going on-- but I'm overusing it. I can't use food as the main character development, metaphor, mood, and setting.
If I was doing it with the weather y'all would be screaming at me.
Returning to the subject at hand, I don't think you should reject the food thing out of hand. Weather falls into pathetic fallacies partly because it's a natural phenomenom. Food, on the other hand, is necessary for human survival. Created food is an art form. And it's VERY possible for many humans to have issues regarding food, if you think about things like anorexia, fatophobia, stereotypes about certain cultures, and so on. It's ENTIRELY possible for food to emerge as a metaphor for a theme and have it be appropriate. (Examples: (movies) Chocolat, Ratatouille, Delicatessen, Soul Food, (books) Bet Me, Sunshine
( ... )
