Both pros and cons, that is.  I'm so happy to have become the conduit for all frustrations and praises regarding the long-delayed completion of ADWD.

Why, some of you ask?  Why do I do what I do?  Do I have a skewed sense of grandeur?  Of entitlement?  Am I doing this to simply entertain?  To constructively critique?  Or am I just an asshole?

Commenting anonymously, because if my lj friends find out I support this I'd be tarred and feathered and run out of town.

I SALUTE YOU SIR/MADAM.

I'm especially tired of this merchandising nonsense. I thought it was cool at first, yeah! An Art book? AWESOME, I said! But now...swords? Miniatures? More board games? A computer rpg? Replica coins? Resin statuettes? An HBO SERIES?? Ffff. I want a book, not more money-making distractions. I wish I could give GRRM all the money he could ever need and just take the fandom back to what it was in 2000.

Also to add to your "Phrases to Avoid": 'Nuncle'. 'Half a groat'. 'Words are Wind'.

People jump to his defense all the time and it drives me nuts. Do you think that he will give up the project because of a few naysayers? No. Or that your defense of him, no matter what he does, will earn you anything? No.

GRRM: "Gee thanks Koold00d86 for sticking up for me in that thread war. Here's a copy of ADWD early, and come crash at my place."
Not likely.

Suckups.

Comics, convention, Nfl, wild cards, blog with a 24 hour a day, when uncle George will work at the Books?
I propose a 12 hour improving per day!
Serious, I hope Grrm know his responsability with his readers.
Sob!

I don't agree "art" belongs to anyone, let alone the "public" (not even "public domain" really belongs to the public; it usually belongs to the state). However, I am a frustrated fan just like you, and I agree that you should give voice to those feelings of frustration for all of us. The webring should not have excluded this blog - it is part of the experience of being a fan, just like obsessing about the prophesies or writing Rob/Jaime slash fiction.
